Happy Lammas / Lughnasasdh and midsummer!

Lammas or Lughnasadh is celebrated around August 1st. It is the festival on the wheel of the year that marks the halfway point of Summer. The nights are beginning to lengthen and the days shorten.

Lammas is a time of abundance and receiving. Celebrate all that you have gained, learned, or changed resulting from spring and summer growth. Assess the intentions that you set in winter and early spring.

The energy of Lammas is abundance, celebration, gratitude, and connection.

To celebrate Lammas, here are some ideas

  • bake breads, cakes and pies

  • collect flowers and press or dry them

  • go on a picnic with seasonal fruits and vegetables

  • connect to the sun's energy to cultivate joy and abundance

Lammas is the perfect time to show gratitude to your familiar, the animal that you have a connection to. Since Lammas is an abundant time, a time to receive, it is also a time to give. What can you share with your familiar? Share a special treat that’s safe for the two of you to consume together. Write a love letter to your familiar or take time to sit in gratitude for all that your familiar provides you.

Lammas is also about abundance, consider donating unused toys, leashes, or blankets that your animal doesn't use to pets in need. What else do you have that you can share with or give to another?
