Changing diet during each season aids us and our animals in remaining our healthiest. Each season brings different qualities. Fall brings air that is cooler and drier. To synchronize with nature, considering our diet is impactful.

This is a concept from Ayurveda, a system of medicine that encourages balance between body, mind, and spirit through lifestyle practices and diet.

Foods that balance the qualities of fall are foods that are warmer, moist, and oily.

The following foods are safe and healthy to add to your dog's diet during the Fall months.

  • Sardines

  • Mackeral

  • Coconut oil

  • Eggs

  • Squash

  • Pumpkin

  • Brussel sprout

  • Eggplant

  • Sweet Potato

  • Bone broth

When it comes to vegetables, lightly boil them. You can turn them into a puree, which might encourage dogs to eat with their regular meals. Making them ahead of time, and freezing them into ice cubes or portions makes it easier than cooking every day.
